C.D.
Clarke, Upper Fairmont, MD
C.D. Clarke has always had two strong interests: art and the outdoors.
He
started out in a program that would have put him into the Forestry
School at
Syracuse University. After one semester he realized that forestry
was
chemistry and math, so he turned to art.
All of his knowledge of light and how things are recorded and responded
to
came from years of working outdoors on location. Many of his paintings
are
created right on the spot, standing on a rocky beach, in a windy
marsh, or
on a sparkling flat. The light, colors and feel of the landscape
are true to
life. At other times he will use the sketches he made in the field
along
with his reference photos as the basis for a painting completed
in his
studio under more controlled conditions. |

Jane
Ferguson, Arnold, MD For the
vast majority of my life I never considered myself the least bit
artistic, much less a person who would someday be called "An
Artist." But my life changed when my sister, Ann Weibel, an

paints. From the moment I painted my first stroke, I fell in love
with paints, the process of painting and my new way of seeing everything.
I especially enjoy painting the Plein Air landscape, the Chesapeake
"Bay-scape" , flowers and children. I was blessed to spend
my first three years painting and studying with Walt Bartman, Jr.
Director and Founder of the Yellow Barn Studio, Glen Echo, MD. I
have also studied with Ann Weibel of Vero Beach, FL and Don Sahli

Larry
Moore, Winter Park, FL
"I have been painting en plein
air for the last 20 years. It is the most challenging and rewarding
form of art I have experienced. My goal in painting, whether in
studio or outdoors, is to achieve enough honesty in the work that
the painting becomes a window to a new place for the viewwer,
a place of rest from this hectic world. Having witnessed the rapid
growth and decimation of our natural environment, painting here
has become my way of reminding the public of what is quickly becoming
the nation's vanishing natural beauty." |

Scott
Prior, Oceanside, CA
Scott Prior is a native of Southern
California and took to art at an early age. When it came time
to enroll in college and find a major, Scott was encouraged to
pick something marketable. Six majors later, Scott began to feel
a little lost. His mom encouraged him to take up a drawing class
at his local Junior College for fun.it was there that he found
himself doing what he should have doing the whole time. At the
Academy of Art College in San Francisco, he studied under artists,
Craig Nelson, Bill Maughan and Hui Han Lui. Shortly after graduation,
Scott relocated to southern California. Having learned the lesson
early on to pursue what inspires you, he would not waver from
that quest. Today, whether he's in his studio, painting 'en plein
aire' or out catching his favorite surf break - Scott recognizes
the many dimensions and shades that make up his everyday life
and is inspired by them. |
