About the Exhibition
This juried exhibition and competition is a project of the Avalon Foundation and culminates with an awards presentation and multi-day exhibition and sale at the Academy Art Museum, a museum accredited by the American Association of Museums. The competition is part of an arts festival which will include other fine art exhibits, workshops, lectures, theatre and music.
The Plein Air-Easton! event will run from July 19 until July 25, 2010. There will be an artist registration and reception Sunday evening, July 18. Artists may paint within specified areas from July 19-22. Possible scenes include village streets, historic structures, industrial areas, pastoral vistas and marine subjects. Artists must turn in two completed, framed and ready to be hung artworks. Two-dimensional medium with a 36” x 42” maximum canvas size is acceptable. Work must be done “en plein air” without the assistance of photography.
The sale and exhibit will be held at the Academy Arts Museum, Friday evening (ticketed Collectors’ Preview Party) and all day Saturday and Sunday. Artists must pick up work that is not sold at the end of the exhibition or make their own arrangements for shipping. Artists may provide up to eight additional plein air paintings from home or produced during the week to replace sold work.
Artists must submit 3 digital images of their original plein air work completed in the past two years along with a fee of $35.
Submissions
can be sent via mail or online.
